A Ferrari 250 GTO, as we recently discussed, is probably the most aspirational of cars. Now one such beauty will be sold by RM Auctions.

Only 36 of these vehicles were ever made and one reportedly sold for $30 million a few years ago. Such a price would have made it the most expensive car sale of all time - though that cannot be confirmed. If they are sold (which is rare in itself), it's usually behind closed doors and the public very rarely get any information about the purchase. Which makes this piece of news all the more amazing.

An eight-figure price tag is a certainty. How much is debatable but you wouldn't be surprised if the sale makes history in some form or another.

As far as details are concerned, RM Auctions have announced they will be doing a "private treaty sale" of a 1963 250 GTO chassis #4675GT. The car was bought by the current Japanese owner, Yoshiho Matsuda in 1996 and has an extensive racing history

It's beautiful. It's rare. And for anyone with the wealth and motor-racing passion: it's a must-have.
