A luxurious, boutique hotel called Hotel Éclat has opened in Taipei.

Located in a quiet part of the fashionable Da-An district, the 60-room hotel is owned and conceived by Hong Kong entrepreneur George Wong, who owns the legendary apartment complex, Hong Kong Parkview.

The hotel features various pieces from his personal art and furniture collection, as well as bottles from both his vintage wine and Chinese mao tai liquor cellar. In the lounge you'll find two Salvador Dali sculptures worth several millions of dollars

The hotel is designed by Charles Robertson of LKF Designers Limited, whose work includes projects such as the Le Meridien Cyberport Hotel in Hong Kong and the Four Seasons Shanghai.

The rooms all offer Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries and an original work by Chinese contemporary artist Tang Yuen Hei. In another nice touch, a glass wall divides the walk in rainforest shower from the living area that can be frosted or defrosted at the touch of a button.

The Éclat Suite offers the most extravagant accommodation. It includes a lighted marble dining table, Swarovski chandeliers, Murano glass sculptures and a Hasten bed from Sweden that costs US$48,000.

As far as dining is concerned, the Éclat Lounge serves breakfast, business lunches and traditional English afternoon tea, as well as an a la carte menu throughout the day. A European restaurant will open in the first half of 2010.

Hotel Éclat joins the distinguished group, Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
