Chanel is replacing Lily Allen with Vanessa Paradis as the face of its Coco Cocoon bags. It adds to the impressive repertoire of a woman who is often more associated with her husband Jonny Depp than her own formidable career.

The 37-year-old actress, model and singer has recently been used by Karl Lagerfeld to front Chanel's Rouge Coco lip colour collection, and the new partnership will be her fifth starring role with the brand.

Meanwhile, the singer/songwriter Lily Allen announced that she would be taking a one or two year break from performing in order to concentrate full time on a fashion career. She plans on opening her own line of high-end boutiques.
