The Gangsa

A wonderful contrast to the larger resorts on the island, the gangsa in Sanur is a study in shades of green, where eleven villas named after gamelan instruments not only make up a orchestra, but also a charming Balinese home. Best is The Relaxing Ritual of a traditional massage with lots of thumb and palm work and long smooth strokes, then either a Kayumanis and coconut scrub, avocado and coffee scrub or lulur and yogurt scrub, followed by a rich flower bath and a drink of Jamu. Finally at gong, the restaurant’s chefs will rustle up something from the Balinese or European menu. For one of the most peaceful stays on the island, the gangsa is hard to beat.
