Like the P4/5, the 575 GTZ is the brainchild of another long-time Ferrari collector, Yoshiyuki Hayashi, who wanted something unique for his admirable, Ferrari-filled garage. Looking to the marque’s illustrious history of beautiful cars for inspiration, the customer’s brief to famous Italian design firm Zagato was to create coachwork for his 575M sports car, at unknown cost, in the image of the iconic 250 GTZ of the late 1950s. Zagato was keen to take on the project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its celebrated design.
The result is a very well-executed product of passion on both the part of the customer and his singular vision, as well as the design house’s unique talents and heritage. Showcasing Zagato’s traditional design cues like the double-bubble roof and the intersecting C-pillar, the aluminum-bodied 575 GTZ manages to evoke memories of Ferrari’s classic style while combining it with the 21st Century technology and superb driving manners found in all the 575 cars.
