Celebrating its 140th anniversary this year, IWC Schaffhausen releases a tribute to its own storied past with The IWC Vintage Collection 2008. Few are the houses of haute horlogerie that boast multiple collections that are all immediately recognizable. IWC Schaffhausen is one such manufactory. The Schaffhausen-based manufacture is celebrating six of its own milestone watches: the Pilot's Watch, Portuguese, Ingenieur, Aquatimer, Da Vinci and Portofino. These watches are the culmination of an epic journey that began in 1868, when Florentine Ariosto Jones moved to Switzerland to produce watches.

Although all are part of the current collection, these pieces both reflect the history of each model while keeping pace with the current state of IWC. For example, it is now possible to witness just what the 1955 Ingenieur would look like with current dimensions (42.5mm) as opposed to the original 37.5mm. Similarly, the Vintage Portofino with moonphase adds something new to IWC Schaffhausen: the first moonphase watch outside of the brand's perpetual calendars.
