KEY SPECIFICATIONS:
Water Resistance: 1,220 meters
Note: No date magnifier, visibly more robust than
the Submariner
Rolex is almost synonymous with water resistance and it is no surprise that they have an excellent professional diver's watch. To put it in proper perspective, the Seadweller is to the Submariner as Ford’s Model A is to the Model T. Water resistant to 1,220 meters, the Seadweller eschews traditional Rolex cues such as the date magnifier to achieve this rating (the sapphire crystal is thicker, overall) and the case is visibly more robust, including the screwed down crown. The discreet helium escape valve on the side handles the release of helium automatically.
KEY SPECIFICATIONS:
Case Material: Titanium
Water Resistance: 300 meters
Note: World’s first integrated mechanical depth gauge (80 meters)
Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre continues to impress with its technical breakthroughs, offering ingenious mechanical solutions to a variety of challenges. In this piece, the breakthrough is in the mechanical depth gauge, based in fact on a mechanism in the Atmos clock, making this the only watch in the world with such an innovation. No less than Goldman Sachs notes that this was one of the most significant developments in the watch industry in 2007. The movement is Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 979 so the watch also features the GMT function. The case construction is also remarkable, with the depth gauge in no way compromising the water resistance rating (300 metres) while the Grade 5 titanium used for the case makes the watch incredibly sturdy yet light.
