At the top spot is the imperious Rolls-Royce Phantom Long Wheelbase. At almost seven full meters long, it is a sight to behold, especially in the dictatorial shade of black our photo car was painted in. With a near-infinite array of customization options, from powered individual rear seats, to motorized retractable flat panel televisions, the passenger compartment really gives new meaning to the term “drawing room on wheels.” And what wheels, those 21-inchers managing to look barely big enough under that coachbuilt body that, with a six and three-quarter liter V12 engine, is hauled around with some alacrity.

Maybach has already proved its worth as makers of amazing limousines, with its continent-crushing 62. It has decided to take a sporty tack with its blistering new 57S, a slightly beefed-up version of the shorter-wheelbase 57 limo. Putting out in excess of six-hundred horsepower from its twin-turbocharged V12 power plant, effortless wafting comes instantly to mind. It appears especially regal in the specially-chosen pearlescent Antiqua white that requires twice the number of coats as a regular Maybach paint job – which is already of a higher finish than that of mainstream sedans.
