First ImpressionsPatek Philippe Nautilus - This familiar classic sits comfortably on the wrist and commands attention even from a distance. Harry Tan tells us more - Photography by Harry Tan

The Nautilus from Patek Philippe is a familiar classic, and one of the most popular with Patek collectors. This is due to the fact that it is an everyday bracelet watch for the corporate master.

This visually restrained watch features classic elements such as a slim case and intricate design details like a signed crown and a horizontally embossed dial. Yet these features also make the watch easily identifiable from a distance. On the wrist, the quality of the watch can be seen and felt, as it sits very comfortably. The strongest impression I had of the watch was how slim and comfortable it felt.

Only two other watches come close to the Nautilus in the cachet as a three-handed bracelet classic – the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Cal15300 and the Vacheron Constantin Overseas. All three are key models for the brands and many are sold because of their iconic status. But I think the Nautilus is easily the most comfortable and impressive.
