Dolce&Gabbana X Smeg’s FAB28 Refrigerator is Simply Fabulous

The humble refrigerator isn’t quite something you typically pay much attention to in the furnishing of your home. As long as the size is right and it dispenses cool water in front – you’re probably good. Maybe, if you really needed a luxury fridge, you might be imagining a super hi-tech, minimalist monster-sized fridge with a Siri-like application on the doors to remind you which groceries you’re running low on. But luxury doesn’t always have to be about the latest technology with a sleek metallic finish.

For those who think simplicity is a bore – enter FAB28, a simply fabulous creation by Dolce&Gabbana and Smeg. This gorgeous masterpiece is far from boring, and the special edition creation by the Dolce&Gabbana X Smeg depicts a successful meeting of two distinctly different creative minds in a truly fascinating mash-up.

The typical Smeg fridge is a minimalistic one, characterized by a telling brand logo in front, a trademark chunky 1950s handle and a pop of one color from a non-traditional retro style color palette. FAB28 is all of that with an injection of the quintessential Dolce&Gabbana attitude and artistic brilliance, featuring a gorgeous, artistic rendition by Sicilian artists about anything that’s distinctly Sicilian – lemons, cart wheels, medieval knights. The Trinacria symbol and battle scenes are also featured in the FAB28, along with classic floral embellishments.

The FAB28 is extremely limited, however. Only 100 pieces of the gorgeous, detailed masterworks of art are available, and the very first prototypes was first available for viewing during the Salone del Mobile 2016 in Milan, from April 12 to 17.
