Following the arrival of the new M3 Coupé, BMW has announced details of the four-door M3 Sedan (or M3 Saloon in the UK), which comes with a powerful 4-liter (3,999 cc) V-8 light-alloy engine that shells out 420hp to the wheels at 8,300rpm, and a maximum torque of 400Nm at 3,900rpm. The M3 achieves an acceleration of 62mph from rest in 4.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 155mph. Weight-saving measures have been painstakingly employed through the use of aluminium and other lightweight but high-strength materials in the construction of the engine, crankshaft, and front and rear axle components. And as with all BMW models in the 2007 lineup, the new M3 Sedan is equipped with EfficientDynamics technology to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
