One of the more interesting prospects shown at Frankfurt was BMW’s new performance crossover SUV, the X6. Based largely on the new X5’s all-wheel-drive running gear, the X6 aims to fill a niche that few people would have thought of – though it can be thought of as BMW’s answer to Infiniti’s handsome FX45. It has to be said, however, that the swoopy X6’s coupé-like profile is a distinctive and appealing sight, and though said to only be a concept for now, it is quite likely to be production-ready, with a hybrid version slated for introduction by 2009.
