If this car doesn't take your breath away, nothing else would. Ferrari's latest FXX Evoluzione is a further extension of its FXX program which the Italian marque started in June 2005. The prototype FXX has now been further improved in terms of its handling and performance – a result of Ferrari’s collaboration with its “client test drivers” and seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher.

This raging track-only machine debuted for the first time during last weekend's Ferrrari World Finals at its Mugello race track in Italy. The FXX Evoluzione's V12 engine shells out a stunning 860 hp at 9,500 rpm. Gearshifting takes only an incredible 60 milli-seconds. The traction control system has also been designed to be less invasive, more flexible to adapt to individual driving styles of each driver. And with a choice of nine different settings, the driver can modify the car’s behaviour on the track from corner to corner, just like an F1 driver.

The result of all these modifications – a Fiorano (Ferrari’s private test track) lap time of under 1 min 16 s, a shaving of 2s of its predecessor, the FXX. Other modifications include a 25% increase in aerodynamic efficiency as a result of the installation of a new rear diffuser, nolder and rear flaps; a new suspension geometry, fresh livery, new telemetry monitoring of steering angle and brake pump pressure, and additional video cameras.

Over the next two years, Ferrari has also lined up a series of track events for this red devil at international circuits. Six events have been planned for each year (two in North America, two in Europe, and two in Asia), and of course, not forgetting the traditional end-of-season Ferrari World Finals.
