In celebration of 40 years of production at the LOTUS factory in the Norfolk village of Hethel, England, LOTUS has released a limited edition of the Lotus Elise for continental Europe. Based on Lotus' entry-level model of the Elise Range – the Elise S – these limited edition cars are splashed in burnt orange premium paint, with a color-matched hardtop, painted rear diffuser, center console and exterior panels in body color, brake calipers and air intakes.

Seats are leather trimmed with contrasting orange stitching. Prospective owners can also expect a 10 percent extra value in terms of equipment and options in modification of car. Of the 50 cars built, 15 will be shipped to Germany, 10 go to Switzerland. France and Belgium each get five while Italy receives six. The other EU countries would be left to fight for the remaining nine. The front fender will carry a small flag of each country that gets this limited edition Elise S. Strangely though, LOTUS seems to have left out the country of its birth when dividing the pie. End of Article
