Keywords: Perfumes

Imagine bottles of perfume shaped like miniature objects d'art. That's what the perfume makers at Parfums MDCI Paris have done to their exclusive collection of fragrances. Featuring the creative works of celebrated perfumers like Pierre Bourdon, Francis Kurkdjian and exciting talent Stéphanie Bakouche, their fragrances not only smell good, but also look exquisite as well.

The MDCI flacons are capped with stoppers in the form of classic bust sculptures, made from Limoges bisque or crystal. The crystal flacons, in particular, are made from the age-old "lost-wax" method. This involves preparing a wax model, then heating the wax to make a “plaster” receptacle, into which melted crystal in a kiln at 1,300ºC, is allowed to drip drop by drop until it completely fills the mold. The whole process takes a week for each bust stopper. Each bust is then finished by hand - sanded, milled, acid-etched, adjusted, signed and numbered. End of Article
