Steinway & Sons, maker of fine pianos, has attempted to harmonize its expertise in musical instruments with haute horology with the creation of Steinway & Sons Luxury Swiss Watches. Designed by pianist and designer Fabrizio Cavala, the first line of timepieces from the newly created watch brand displays the unmistakable influences of its musical origins.



The parent company's logo has been prominently carved on the top right hand corner of the watch dial. The seconds hand is crafted to resemble a tuning fork. The grand piano's iconic shape with its timber soundboard, is replicated on the watch dial, for the yellow, rose and white gold versions. Skilled craftsmen painstakingly attach the 12 'strings' on the dial by hand. In the diamond version, instead of 'strings', the soundboard is adorned with 140 individually set diamonds.
