The Only Watch 2007 auction for charity
is being readied, and the varied lineup of watches from many of the
major brands is shaping up nicely. The watch that Vacheron Constantin
have revealed
as their piece for the event is this one-of-a-kind Malte Tourbillon
Platinum, which uses the precious metal in the case, the dial, the
strap and its stitching, and even as the back plate that holds the
tourbillon cage in place. Using platinum as a watch movement
component is a feat in itself, given the relative softness of the
metal, but Vacheron Constantin seem to have accomplished this in this
example. The hand-finished movement features a meticulous level of
chamfering and polishing, giving this all-platinum one-off a peerless
luster.
