The Shanghai Motor Show is a rising force in the auto industry, as the emerging financial superpower plays host to ever-more Asia-centric designs and luxury premieres. Audi have thus chosen Shanghai as the venue to launch their Audi Cross Coupé quattro concept, which is a stylish crossover vehicle that has both sporting appeal with its huge 20-inch wheels as well as street cred in the form of its off-roader stance. In terms of size and concept, it could be a BMW X3 rival, much like the Q7 is a rival for the X5. The Cross Coupe concept looks surprisingly feasible, too, with drivetrains and running gear from existing models. End of Article

The world's first V8 hybrid car has finally gone on sale. Instead on focusing on outright economy, however, the super-luxurious LS600h L from Lexus uses its supplementary electric generators for increased power output. Already an effortlessly powerful limousine, the LS 600h L gets the added benefit of totally silent motivation from its batteries, which combined with the 5.0 V8 up front give it over 430 horsepower, similar to the bigger V12s of its class bretheren. All the toys are present: heated-and-cooled, reclining individual rear seats, a Mark Levinson 450-watt stereo, and a voice-activated hard-drive based satellite navigation system. All this performance and luxury doesn't come cheap however, as the price of the LS 600h L in the US has been announced at just over $100,000. End of Article

Following in the barely-settled wake of the HM1, MB&F have revealed this teaser shot of their forthcoming Horological Machine No2, some six months before it is slated to be launched in October this year. MB&F are keeping tight-lipped about details at the moment; the name of the watchmaker and the functions are in fact still a secret. However, what is known is that the movement you see here is functional, and is purpose-built especially for the HM2. Originally designed by MB&F founders Eric Giroud and Max Büsser some two years ago, the HM2 has been in for a total redesign from the ground up; this new movement is the result. Perhaps most interestingly of all, the watchmaker behind the HM2 is “virtually unknown” to the public at this point. However, with a concept watch as beguiling as the HM2 is sure to be on his resumé, that probably won't be for long. End of Article

With a 612 hp V12 biturbo engine, which also puts out 1000 Nm of torque at only 2000 rpm, the new CL 65 AMG from Mercedes-Benz asserts itself proudly yet again. As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz range, the 6.0 liter coupe is superbly-appointed, with 20-inch forged wheels, a unique AMG interior, and supreme performance. 0-100 km/h comes up in just 4.4 seconds, while the brakes feature new double-frame sliding calipers to withstand fade in extreme circumstances.

Of special note is the ultra-exclusive 40th Anniversary edition, celebrating four decades of Mercedes-Benz's in-house tuning arm, AMG. The limited edition model has a special new paint finish called Alubeam, which gives the car a lustrous sheen much like that of liquid metal. To enhance the exclusivity of the 40th Anniversary edition, the rear apron's diffuser is fashioned from carbon. End of Article

After the gastronomic extravaganza of the “world's most expensive meal” in Bangkok earlier this year, where course after course of haute cuisine dished up by a bevy of world-famous, three-Michelin-starred chefs was served to a privileged few, a sequel is now being planned for the end of 2008. Although, with 500 tickets slated for sale, it is destined to be set on a far grander scale than the first iteration, which was enjoyed by fewer than forty invited guests. Thirty 3-star Michelin chefs are slated to show off their culinary talents at the next in the series of “Epicurean Masters of the World” dinners, which is going to be hosted at the breathtaking pyramids of Giza in Egypt. As with the previous event, part of the profits of the Giza feast will be going to charity, although the price of admission per person has been slashed in half from the Bangkok dinner, whose fine French wine, Champagne, and food set diners back by roughly US$30,000 each. The Egypt menu remains a mystery, however, although the culinary focus is said to be more diverse with exotic foods matched with equally unique wine. End of Article

The House of Guerlain has a history of creating luxury perfumes in honor of notable artists. Nuit d'Amour comes in its own numbered Baccarat crystal bottle which is nestled in bronze-and-gold adorned wooden case that is fastened by a black buffalo horn clasp. Enjoying Champagne at home is often enhanced by surrounding yourselves with appropriate lifestyle accouterments. For example, Veuve Clicquot have, with their new Rosé Champagne, inspired the new Clicquot Loveseat by Karim Rashid; the first piece of home furnishing to bear the Clicquot label. Like the brand whose name it bears, the Loveseat is a bold statement which, with its cozy pink petals, echoes the natural beauty of a rose. In the center, a pistil-shaped ice buck completes the rosy image, making the Clicquot Loveseat much more than just a large, cozy armchair for two. End of Article
