Belmond Eagle Island Lodge has launched the luxury safari lodge’s first private helicopter with a horse riding experience. Indeed, the lodge lies at the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta in a UNESCO world heritage site, where guests can explore one of the world’s last true remaining wildernesses in an unforgettable journey.
The one-of-a-kind sky and earth safari takes you on an open-sided helicopter at dawn, where one can admire a continuous view across the delta from the sky, and its abundant wildlife from roaming elephants to grazing giraffes. After the helicopter flight, guests will embark on a horse-riding adventure with a specialized guide leading a trail across islands, plains, forests and streams.

Whether on an intimate half-day or a full day experience, one will traverse across rich landscapes, moving like the wildlife around them and observing the game entirely undisturbed. As animals move during their daily migrations, guests can follow them on their remarkable journey, unhindered by the constraints of a game drive vehicle when confronted by river crossings and difficult terrain.
In addition to riding alongside hunting wild dogs, elephants and herds of buffalo, one may also have a chance to see leopards, African wildcats, honey badgers, warthogs and tortoises, amongst other notoriously private species.
Belmond Eagle Island Lodge re-opened last November after a comprehensive renovation that welcomes a contemporary update on the luxurious safari experience. Located on a private island flanked by river channels and floodplains, the lodge offers Botswana’s ultimate water and experience-based safari for even the most seasoned traveller, complete with 12 lavish tented guest rooms.
