I’m sure you’ve heard of the term “living the dream”; but how many of us can truly say that we’ve (quite literally) lived the dream? Well folks, I have. No, I did not win the $20 million lottery; neither did I get to spend a week away marooned on an island with only Victoria’s Secret models for company; nor did I win a lifetime’s supply of red skittles, which are my favorite kind, obviously. I got to literally live the dream at, the new award-winning and eco-friendly Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa.
The wonderful folks from Dream Phuket invited Luxury Insider to spend a couple of days at the property to, well…live the dream, and to attend the Grand Opening of the Dream Beach club.

On my short flight over to Phuket from Singapore, I did a little light reading on Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa. Tucked away in the west coast of Phuket, it is just a short distance away from Layan Beach, Laguna; where I read, I could look forward to the pristine and crystal clear waters of the Andaman Sea. To be honest, up until this visit, I had never been to Phuket’s West Coast. My previous and only experience with Phuket was, when I took a trip with friend to the famous (or if you prefer, infamous) Patong Beach, which is not really an ideal destination if you’re looking to chill out and live the dream. So I was looking forward to the tranquility the Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa’s location.
Shortly after landing, a few other guests and myself are ushered into a transport van arranged by the hotel, and we were off. A short 20-minute drive later, we were at the hotel lobby, greeted with the hotel’s signature mocktail and flowers. One of the many things that people like about vacationing in Thailand is the warmth of its infallible Thai hospitality. And Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa certainly wasn’t about to disappoint.
The hotel has 174 well-appointed rooms, suites and Villas, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and spectacular views of the beautiful hotel pool, private garden and pool or the lush surrounding green hills…and for the next few days, one of these rooms was mine. I was put up in a Deluxe King room with a balcony over looking the hills, and a freestanding bathtub and frosted glass-wrapped rainforest shower.

The generously proportioned room had all the amenities that a creature of comfort like me could ask for; a king sized bed covered in fine Egyptian cotton and more pillows than I could figure out what to do with, a decent 42-inch plasma television, a full-size mini bar, etc.
Other rooms at Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa include the Executive Garden Pool Suite, Grand Deluxe Pool Suite, Pool Suite, Sky Suite, Sky Pool Suite, and my personal favorite the Executive Pool Villa.
A sprawling swimming pool, with a swim-up pool bar, runs through the property connecting the different blocks. After getting settled, no matter how inviting the pool (and the swim-up pool bar) was, the other guests and I decided to head to the hotel’s signature restaurant, Trilogy for some lunch. Trilogy features Michelin Star-inspired menus of modern Thai, classic Tuscan and contemporary European cuisine designed by three accomplished chefs, and prepared in a beautiful theatre style kitchen.
I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t enjoy Thai food, and since we were in the belly of the beast, everyone at the table ordered up storm of Thai dishes. Once the food arrived, the Instagram food pictures were taken, and comments about how good the food looked and smelled were passed, we dove in. It was insanely good...to say the least.

Another dining venue, which we got to try later in the evening was the VU Rooftop Pool Bar. Hidden away from the main hustle of the hotel, the alternative dining destination serves up sizzling barbecues and International fares alongside specialty cocktails and refreshing beverages incorporating Thai flavors like lemongrass, tamarind and chili.
A little while after lunch, we were given the grand tour of the hotel grounds. The bit about the tour that I found most interesting was the fact that Dream Phuket has its own spa. I know what you're thinking..."How that is a big deal?!"
Here's why it's a big deal: Dream Phuket is the only luxury hotel around the area with its own dedicated, fully functional spa. There's little wonder why it also takes bookings made by guests from other hotels and resorts nearby.
The 350 square-meter haven of wellness for the body, mind and spirit has five modern treatment rooms. The Sanctuary Spa offers a wide selection of pampering treatments and beautifying regimes including massages, facials, wraps, waxes, manicures, pedicures, hair styling and even kids' spa services. For energy boost and nourishment of the body’s core essence, the signature Five Element spa journeys balance the internal elements of wood, fire, earth, water and metal. Sanctuary Spa uses specially imported Ling New York products carefully formulated without known irritants such as mineral oils, lanolin and artificial fragrances.
Before I leave you to make your own bookings to experience the wonders that Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa has to offer, I have to tell you about Indulge. Though I didn't get to spend as much time in there as I would have liked, out of all that Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa has hidden up its sleeves, it is a personal favorite of mine.
Indulge is a decadent leather swathed cigar lounge that exudes a mix of allure, intrigue and sensuality. The shelves behind the bar features a star-studded cast of more than 200 fine wines, single malts, Cuban cigars, and Asian and Mediterranean Tapas.

It's not that easy to find, so if you have trouble locating it, just ask one of the friendly hotel staff and they'll help you find your way. The hidden hideaway is like Dream Phuket Hotel & Spa's very own version of a man cave. Aside from catching all the latest sports action on TV, guests with a taste for live music can also enjoy Soul and R&B performances on weekend nights.
