Overlooking the Okura Prestige lies a monolith in the making. The building stands tall on the prestigious Wireless Road amidst a bustling Bangkok, flanked by five-star hotels and restaurants, world-class shopping, high-rise office buildings, embassies and consulates. When 98 Wireless finally unveils this October, the project would have taken over six long years to perfect.

Modern vision and classic style meld gorgeously, inspired by the classical European Beaux-Arts style. The art is in the details, decisively executed with only the finest natural materials and finishes. A kind of majesty reveals itself throughout the building in solid white-oak herringbone floors and rare mahogany crotch door panels flown exclusively from the United States.

The developers were initially unsure of how the Portuguese Moleanos Limestone would take to Bangkok’s climate, but two years of weathering tests gave the go-ahead for façades made of the exquisite stone. For a regal finish, the master bathrooms are dressed in a selection from the finest slabs of Statuario Marble, handpicked directly about 100km northest of Rome from a marble quarry in Carrara.

CEO of Sansiri, Apichart Chutrakul calls the project a “labor of love”, and he’s not wrong. Where other Sansiri projects typically materialize within two years, the 98 Wireless took three times as long, and not for nothing. Designed with the concept of “The Best Comes As Standard”, the condominium was crafted with a painstaking dedication towards perfection, where nothing less than perfection was tolerated – not even if it was just a tiny bubble in molding of the 23m high ceiling.

In addition to having a world-class design team led by Design Worldwide Partnership and New York interior designer Anne Carson, 98 Wireless is South East Asia’s first and only Ralph Lauren furnished home.

“[Ralph Lauren Home’s] craftsmanship is rival to none so we want somebody to have an artisan’s input in our project,” says Apichart. “They have come up with a magnificent answer to our question.”

Established in 1983, Ralph Lauren Home is an extension of Ralph Lauren, the first designer to introduce an all-inclusive home furnishings collection with a distinctively Ralph Lauren character. Enduring style and a tenacious dedication to great craftsmanship encapsulates the vision of Ralph Lauren Home, whose collection is abound with timelessly elegant pieces and artisanal excellence.

We spoke to William Li, President of Ralph Lauren Home and Apichart Chutrakul, CEO of Sansiri on this collaboration.

What made you jump on board?

William: We don’t really get involved with many real estate projects and we’ve done very few. When we heard about this project it was just so exciting that a company like Sansiri would be so ambitious to build a building of this quality using these incredible materials and doing something which is in one way very old fashioned but in another way incredibly innovative. There’s nothing else like this in South East Asia and I think in some of the emerging markets you see a new appreciation for material and a new appreciation for history, and the way innovation and history kind of combine themselves in this project made it very exciting to us.
