Swarovski AW16 Haute Couture Dazzles with 100,000 Crystals

The magnificent Palais de Tokyo in Paris made the perfect backdrop of Alexandre Vauthier’s Autumn/Winter 2016 haute couture collection for Swarovski, rounding up the ninth season the designer has collaborated with the crystal house.

“The collection is a mix of sexy silhouettes with different types of fishnet and military inspired looks, on which the sparkle of Swarovski brings a feminine touch and luxurious feeling,” said Vauthier.

An injection of python patterns work around a subtle façade, where a rather exotic exhibit of skins, silks, lush furs and leathers make for a fascinating juxtaposition against brooding blacks and browns and a military-like khaki green.

Supported by Swarovski, more than 100,000 crystals made for the embellishment of seven of Vauthier’s looks, in an exquisite display where studded, eyelet-embellished crystal fringing and metal on bandage wrap dresses, was among the pieces’ significant details. Also among the collection’s key details were the crystal embroidered bustier and camouflage pants, with crystal transfers on tops, dresses, sheer silk gowns and fishnet tights.

Beyoncé, Adriana Lima, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Heidi Klum are just some of the designer’s star-studded fans, who favor Vauthier’s penchant for glamorous yet sexy silhouettes unravels in his instantly recognizable style.
