Hommage Creates World's Most Expensive Razor

By JOYCE KHOO

Ancient techniques of forging steel have gone into the
creation of Hommage’s limited edition Damascene Razor, which at $30,000 might
very well be the world’s most expensive razor.

Paris-based company Hommage specializes in luxury skincare
services for men, and have added the hand-forged razor to its collection of
high-end grooming equipment.

One hundred and twenty eight layers of Damascene
steel compose the body of the razor, which is covered off with a rose and
torsion pattern, and hidden within a platinum-plated sheath. The whole razor
comes with a lacquered Tanzanian anigré wooden box.

The razor’s name is a tribute to the steel swords made for
soldiers during the ancient Crusades. Whether or not the razor shaves as finely
as the ancient legends purport, no one can contest the craftsmanship of the
blade.
