Mastodon Straight Razor by Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons

By JULIET HUANG

This
Mastodon straight razor by Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons has a limited quantity
of 50. The reason for this conservative assembly: the razor’s handle is
reportedly carved out of 10,000-year-old fossilized Siberian Wooly Mammoth
ivory, which goes some way to explaining the US$2,200 asking price.

The
authenticity continues with the use of restored vintage deadstock blades with
sterling silver linings and rivets. But Black Sheep pushes the depth further
with its 3mm quartz Stanhope magnifying lens on the task handle, which contains
a customizable microscopic image of vintage erotica.

Handcrafted
in New York, each set comes in a handcrafted wooden box with a black linen
sleeve.
