The Cinderella of 2012 has been fitted with a fabulous glass slipper by Christian Louboutin—and they come with red leather soles, naturally. Inspired by the seminal Disney animated film, the flamboyant shoe designer has given Cinderella's glass slippers, which play a pivotal role in the fairy tale, an ultra-feminine update: the slippers have ben outfitted with a killer 120mm heel, and the upper is made of Swarovski-encrusted cream lace, with princess-worthy crystal butterfly embellishments on the toe.

Unveiled in Paris to coincide with the film's impending re-release on DVD and Blu-Ray this Autumn, Christian Louboutin says the design of the shoes came naturally to him: "Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairy-tale love, but also shoes. Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale.”

Disney says just twenty pairs of the Cinderella Louboutin shoes will be made, and the heels will be given away to lucky modern princesses all over the world, when the DVD arrives in stores. More details to come.
