Breitling celebrated the Navitimer's 60th anniversary this year with the Singapore launch of the handsome limited edition Blue Sky, a high-octane event that was graced by Hollywood icon and ambassador John Travolta.
A firm favorite with aviation professionals and discerning watch collectors, the Breitling Navitimer's gorgeous 60th anniversary special edition was unveiled to regional press and friends of the Swiss manufacture at the sky-high Equinox Complex at Swissötel The Stamford, followed by a glitzy
evening cocktail at the glass-clad Pangaea nightclub at Marina Bay Sands later that same day.
Hollywood actor, pilot and global brand ambassador John Travolta was the star presence at the Singapore launch, with just nine pieces of the Navitimer Blue Sky to be made available in the Garden City; just 500 specimens will be offered worldwide.
The very first timepiece in the individually numbered collection (001/500) was presented to Breitling enthusiast Willie Ong - a rare honor indeed, as all limited edition Breitling timepieces bearing the first serial number are traditionally reserved for archival purposes, as well as display at the Breitling museum.
In return for the privilege of owning the first piece, Mr Ong pledged S$50,000 to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, which helps students from low-income families with education-related expenses.
The Navitimer Blue Sky’s specially designed dial comes in a deep, rich shade of blue exclusive to this limited edition timepiece. Complementing the handsome blue dial is a dashing silver inner bezel and a contrasting red central chronograph seconds hand. The Blue Sky is available with a matching blue crocodile leather strap or fitted with the Navitimer bracelet or the original perforated Air Racer bracelet.
