Taking minimalism to an extreme new level is this new eco-friendly beauty by German manufacturer Thonet—it comes sans brakes. Designed by superstar architect Andy Martin, the new beech-wood bike references Martin's famed chairs, sure to be familiar with interior design buffs.
Cut using state-of-the-art CNC machines, this sturdy vehicle is reinforced with spring rods and connectors, all designed by Martin, while the gorgeous wheels are wrought from carbon fiber for the ultimate lightweight ride.
For some inexplicable reason, the new limited edition Thonet bike is apparently built without brakes, but you can opt for several interchangeable gear ratios, although at this price point—the model starts at US$69,000—one suspects this is a bike made for short show-offy spins around your own patio; it is by no means a road-safe means of transport.
