Building on the momentum of November – BACCARAT Magazine’s 100th issue - we finish the year in fine style with another bumper edition, packed with people, parties (not least our own), fashion, art, opinion and must-read lifestyle features.
On our cover is Beijing-based actress Zhang Jingchu, who flew into Hong Kong for our 100 issues celebration on November 13. In a whirlwind two-day stopover, the star of Aftershock, Lacuna and the upcoming Italian production, I Trust You, picked up our award for Most Radiant Cover Star, had dinner with Jackie Chan, and the next morning posed for our December 2012-Febraury 2012 cover in the newly decorated Intercontinental Hong Kong lobby lounge.
ous pictorials offering plenty of hot choices for party and winter dressing. We take to the road for two of them. Going ‘Geisha style’, Rost Production photographer Gordon Lund and his team set a modern high-fashion shoot against the colour and tranquillity of old town Kyoto. Kimono and okobo were optional. Then we headed to the streets of New York, where in a multicultural mix Shanghai-based Canadian photographer Todd Anthony Tyler - a judge on hit new show Asia’s Next Top Model – directed his Chinese model, who stands out in chic black separates.
With Christmas being the season of giving, we meet Hong Kong’s five most charitable young society women. Jane Chao Lee, Jacqueline Chow Liu, Melissa Fok, Robin Hwang and Andrea Ma, the charity queens of the future, are shining examples to their generation of the old adage that it is better to give than to receive, and more rewarding to participate than to sit back complacently.
Inspiring us to a little creativity too at this time of year are three men from different backgrounds who all make provocative artistic statements: young Taiwan-born New York painter, illustrator and fashion collaborator James Jean; acclaimed Scottish sculptor David Mach and Korean installation specialist Choi Jeong-hwa, who imagines flying pigs in a Hong Kong shopping mall this holiday.
On that inspiring note, we wish readers a wonderful Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year holiday. BACCARAT’S December 2012-February 2013 packs a festive punch – buy it now for essential holiday reading!
