Taller and wider: welcome to an upgraded ride with more legroom aboard BMW's latest beauty, the four-door coupe-style 2014 3 Series Gran Turismo. The German manufacture has released the first images of the new car ahead of its world debut at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
As you can see here, this is a handsome vehicle that visibly appears more imposing than its siblings in the 3 Series - it's an impressive 7.9 inches longer and 3.2 inches taller than the 3 Series Sports Wagon.
The new GT also adds 4.3 inches of wheelbase, giving you 2.8 inches of extra rear legroom: great dimensions if you're looking for a family-friendly driver's car.
Offered in two iterations, the 328i Gran Turismo comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, or get the 335i which offers a 300 horsepower 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline six cylinder engine with 300 lb-ft of torque. Both versions come with BMW's first active spoiler that boosts aerodynamics and lends the car an immediate sporty vibe.
Generous interior dimensions allow passengers in every seat of the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo to enjoy a feeling of space and freedom of movement. The cabin is fitted with the lush leather and contrast stitching that BMW is famous for.
The front and rear passengers all benefit from a seating position that is 2.3 inches higher than the sedans, providing outstanding visibility of passing scenery and making entry and exit significantly more comfortable. More details to come, but from the initial specs provided and the images we've seen, we're loving it already.
