From Switzerland, Geneva Sound is “furniture music”: a renewed fusion of home entertainment and home décor that brings technology and design full circle. A century ago, Emile Berliner’s new flat disc, the gramophone, was engineered to work inside a wooden cabinet, the Victrola. The simplicity and furniture quality of Herr Berliner’s design made it acceptable in the American home, where Mr. Edison’s clunky phonograph had failed. Not unlike the iPod a century later, the European sense of style merged with functional simplicity became immensely popular. It gave birth to the home entertainment industry.
