The Islay distillery of Bowmore has just unveiled its fifth edition of its luxury whisky, concluding the Black Bowmore series that first released in 1993. Considered one of the original ‘luxury’ single malt whiskies, each edition of the Black Bowmore has been highly coveted by collectors.

Only 827 bottles of the 2007 edition of the series are made available, featuring a mix of five oloroso sherry hogsheads. Of these five casks, two make up the final edition of the Black Bowmore series.

Indeed, the 50 year-old bottle costs US$19,800 and only 159 bottles are available worldwide. The concluding bottle is like every previous Black Bowmore edition, first distilled in 1964 and bottled at 40.9% ABV. The exquisite bottle, crafted with traditional glassblowing techniques by Glasstorm, marks the caliber of the grand whisky, with a presentation case made from fine Scottish oak.
