Karl Lagerfeld Launches Limited Edition Art Supply Kit

As September comes right around the corner and summer lives out its last days, so too does the familiar feeling of school’s beginnings.

Indeed, Karl Lagerfeld has announced a Faber-Castell collaboration that has created a limited edition set of fine artist tools worthy of scholarly ambition. The collection, labeled ‘Karlbox’, includes a slogan that says: ‘Colors in black’.

Encased in a chic, black lacquered box specially designed by Kaiser Karl, only 2,500 sets are made with a unique serial number and a certificate of authenticity.

Of course, the US$2,850 art kit is not complete without a lavish array of 350 different premium-grade supplies for drawing and painting. That also includes all 120 shades of Lagerfeld’s personal favorite – the Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Pencils.

A total of three languages, French, English and German, are etched along the side, revealing the color family found in each section. The five individual drawers are all removable, with accompanying essensials such as a foldable Clic & Go water cup.

“To me, drawing is like breathing and writing. These are the things that almost relax me,” said the designer. According to Vogue.com, Lagerfeld himself has ordered one set for each of his five international offices.

Besides being available for online purchase, Karlbox is also sold exclusively at Harrods London, Faber-Castell stores, Karl Lagerfeld boutiques across the world.
