How To Wear Issey Miyake’s Glitteringly Galactic Pre-Fall 16

Ocean blue, like the Earth viewed from outer space. Burgundy like the intergalactic nebula, dressed with a splash of midnight blue in a litter of stars. The infinite, mysterious black universe. Quite evidently, Issey Miyake’s latest Pre-Fall 16 collection has taken some inspiration from the gorgeous glittering galaxy, and we are digging it. Clean lines and androgynous silhouettes are here to stay, along with some unexpected layering. Now, you could wear the universe, reinvented poetically as if through an astronaut’s gaze, and elevated with the creative genius of Issey Miyake.

In this collection, original textiles are made with ground-breaking methods that take another look at Mother Earth and the universe around her, and the results speak for themselves. Last season’s “Baked Stretch” gets a graphic update with colors layered into the pleats, as though they were valleys, giving a three-dimensional touch.

In Issey Miyake’s proudest collection yet, “Steam Stretch” is featured in their photo-Jacquard fabric series, which uses a traditional marble printing technique to inject patterns and images onto the fabric.

Burgundy Dream

Culottes are hot this season, what with their generous cut and their tendency to elevate plain outfits into something effortlessly chic. An abstract interstellar cloud of dust and ionized gases in a gorgeous splash of burgundy makes a fine, expressionistic print for this two piece suit.

Smooth Lady

Tangerine, blue and white, in futuristic technicolor swirls, blindingly smooth with a pair of cool shades and a tall pop of collar for a lot of attitude.

Black And Blue Like The Galaxy

The universe is, after all, a vast canvas of black nothingness, and this outfit depicts exactly so. But don’t mistake black for boring, as the unexpected texture and asymmetrical lines preps this outfit for something worthy of the stars.

The collection will be available in stores from the end of May.
