LVMH confirms Kenzo’s Eric Marechalle as new CEO of Marc Jacobs

LVMH has confirmed the appointment of Eric Marechalle as the newest chief executive officer of Marc Jacobs International, effective as of the 3d quarter of 2017. Marechalle currently holds the same title at Kenzo. The current CEO of Marc Jacobs, Sebastian Suhl, will exit the company after almost three years with the company.

The move supports LVMH’s preference for finding its new CEOs internally; prior to Marc Jacobs, Suhl was previously the CEO at Givenchy. Under Suhl’s leadership, diffusion brand Marc by Marc Jacobs was eliminated to follow a unification of the two collections under one Marc Jacobs label. The move would also see the expansion of its contemporary collection and range of price points. In line with Suhl’s vision for Marc Jacobs, Marechalle’s work at Kenzo saw the refocusing of the brand from a serene, artful vibe to something vivaciously energetic with a take on the contemporary. Indeed, during Marechalle’s time at Kenzo, the brand quickly transitioned into one of the more interesting brands to watch across Europe.

Before Kenzo, Marechalle helmed Catimini, a children’s brand that was a part of Kidiliz Group, which formerly known as The Zannier Group. The group also licenses Kenzo Kids, which it still produces.
