Mr. Burberry Captures the Essence of London in a Bottle

Take a whiff of Mr. Burberry and don’t be surprised to find yourself back in London, surrounded by a gorgeous amalgamation of sights and sounds; the contrast of tradition against irreverence and the art of elegance without being too pristine.

“Mr. Burberry is our most significant men’s fragrance to date,” explains Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey. “Inspired by the iconic Burberry trench coat and by London, a city of great contrasts and contradictions. It is traditional yet irreverent, elegant without being pristine. It perfectly encapsulates a mood and an attitude that today’s Burberry man will recognize as his own.”

Indeed, Mr. Burberry takes inspiration from the black trench coat and its distinct design details, and like its name suggests, serves as an extension of the quintessential Burberry man. The fragrance itself is a collaborative work by Christopher Bailey himself and Francis Kurkdjian, a renowned perfumer.

British artistes Josh Whitehouse and Amber Anderson star in the fragrance’s highly anticipated campaign, shot in London by critically acclaimed British director Steve McQueen. The campaign serves as McQueen’s first commercial film.

“Christopher is a unique human being and a real collaborator,” says McQueen. “His enthusiasm is infectious and that’s what attracted me into working with him on this project. I wanted to convey the idea of two people who are passionately in love with each other, and go off on a dirty weekend. It’s that moment in a relationship where all you are thinking about is each other, and all you want is to be with each other.”
