Jonathan Akeroyd Will Be Versace’s New CEO

Jonathan Akeroyd will be officially joining Versace as its newest chief executive officer with effect from June 6. Akeroyd has previously spent more than a decade as Alexander McQueen’s CEO.

“Jonathan Akeroyd’s industry expertise and vision will be key to advancing the next phase of Versace’s development," said vice president and artistic director of Versace, Donatella Versace, in a statement. “Jonathan brings a proven track record in building global brands, steering growth and driving strategic development.”

Likewise, Akeroyd considers his impending new role “an exciting opportunity to take Versace to even greater success”.

“I look forward to implementing a long-term business strategy that supports the visionary and creative direction of Donatella Versace and her team,” he said.

Akeroyd, who left Alexander McQueen earlier this month, started off as a store manager at Harrods, London. His former post at Alexander McQueen has been filled by Yves Saint Laurent’s former retail and wholesale director, Emmanuel Gintzburger.

The Milan based Versace announced previously in March that it plans to invest over US$56 million to develop its e-commerce business and expand its retail network, since 2015 saw an increase in online sales.
