“Since 1854”: The New Louis Vuitton Collection That’ll Reignite Monogram Mania Tastefully

Launching in Singapore on Sept 25, Louis Vuitton's "Since 1854" range is like the ultimate capsule collection for decking oneself out in the maison's monogram except that it's not quite like how you know it. Instead of brown canvas, it comes in dark navy or burgundy jacquard, a finish that imbues the distinct four-petaled motif with a tactile vintage edge all while celebrating the brand's dedication to craftsmanship. Its name references the brand's founding year not only as tribute, but also because it's been cleverly and literally woven in to become part of the graphic pattern. (Designed by Nicolas Ghesquiere, the "8"is designed to look like a petal.) What is most likely to get shoppers most excited though is how "Since 1854" sees this charming made-over monogram translated into a whole suite of perfect-for-every day pieces – think preppy, school girl knits and a chic collared mini dress. And of course there are the matching accessories including several of the brand's hot-sellers such as its Archlight sneakers; the recently introduced, pragmatically elegant handbag, the LV Pont 9; or longtime signatures like the Speedy and Noe bucket bag. (For Singapore luxury blogger Bagaholicboy's take on these designer classics, click here.) And if the idea of wearing monogram still makes you think foremost (or only) of rappers and hype kids, we offer up in the gallery above a glimpse at how to pull off and mix up pieces from "Since 1854" effortlessly, alongside our picks of what's most likely to sell out from the collection. All you have to do now: Hurry along to boutiques or the brand's e-store (and pray that the brand will soon add its perennially sold-out Multi-Pochette to the range).
