Maillon de Cartier Is Your New Cartier Wrist Candy

Could the Maillon de Cartier be horology's answer to the boyfriend chain trend sweeping jewellery right now? It certainly seems so. This debut collection reimagines the maison's iconic link bracelet which was popularised in the '80s by the Panthere de Cartier timepiece into a bold piece of of jewellery watch. The trademark of the Maillon de Cartier is its diagonal arrangement of the links on the bracelet design which gives the illusion a twisted three-dimensional bracelet. Even the dainty 16mm x 17mm case of this quartz-powered watch collection has not escaped the 'warp' and has been rendered in a hexagonal shape. The Maillon de Cartier collection comprises six iterations in yellow, pink and white gold with varying options of diamond settings. The most exclusive option is a yellow gold piece in black lacquer dial. This limited-edition design – only 50 pieces are available – consists of 580 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 9.33 carats plus another diamond set into the crown. It is also the only model in the collection to boast gold hands. With an entry-level piece from the collection going at $34,600 a pop, it's safe to say that you'll be making a statement regardless of which one you pick. Above, a closer look at the designs.
