Japan Will Open Its First World-Class Luxury Onsen Resort in Beppu


It’s no secret that the city of Beppu, located of the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, is a paradise for onsen (hot springs). Blend that traditional Japanese spa experience with the convenience of a luxurious accommodation, and you will have the ultimate world-class luxury onsen resort. Scheduled to open in 2019, ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa will be Oita’s first international luxury branded hotel, elevating the area as an international spa resort destination with a stunning vista of the bay and city. Developed by Tokyo Century Corporation, the upcoming luxury resort will also be supported by the Oita prefecture and Beppu City.

The announcement comes in line with a hotel management agreement for the ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa between IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan LLC and GHS K.K. The exclusively designed luxury destination also marks the InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts’ first onsen resort, offering a smorgasbord of lavish experiences. Guests can indulge in a public onsen bath, spa and pool, or work out in the fitness centre. The resort will also have various restaurants and bars, and of course, the Club InterContinental lounge. Of the 89 luxury guest rooms, all will feature a private and common onsen, with water sourced from a local hot spring.
