Noteworthy Kickstarter Watch Campaigns That Did Incredibly Well

Benarus Megalodon Dive Watch

US$149,830 pledged of US$50,000 goal

The 2500m super diver with a helium valve is machined out of solid 316L stainless steel. If you’re wondering, the valve is used if gases such as helium enters the watch through the rubber gaskets. The gas will expand as air pressure changes and the valve will let the gas out without damaging the watch. The lugs on the Megalodon diver watch are drilled so that you can remove the bracelet easily and use a rubber dive strap, or any 24mm strap that you want to use.

Helgray Le Mans

US$148,704 pledged of US$10,000 goal

The Helgray Le Mans is inspired by motorsports and racing chronograph watches from the 1970's. Remember 'Le Mans' with Steve McQueen? That's the movie that ignited this project. The iconic racing strap, with the 3 large holes tapering down in diameter towards the buckle, is hand-crafted by some of the best leather artisans. Each of Helgray's handcrafted watch included a certificate of authenticity.

Rec Watches: P-51 Automatic

DKK 3,193,364 (US$507,1086) pledged of DKK 1,400,000 (US$222,321) goal

The P-51 is handcrafted from salvaged and recycled classic 1960’s Ford Mustangs. Rec Watches' P-51s are the first watches to feature a 'Story Card'. The Story Card is a scannable plastic card in the same size as a creditcard, but with a built-in NFC-chip and QR code, that when activated links directly to a video that explains the exact story of the specific Mustang that became the watch.

LIV Genesis X1-A

US$1,119,029 pledged of US$40,000 goal

Back in 2016, the LIV Genesis X1-A was fully funded in just 34 minutes, and held the record for the most funded timepiece on Kickstarter. The watch features a Swiss automatic 26-jewel movement with a 38-hour power reserve, is wrapped in high grade 316L stainless steel and coated with highly durable black/gray IP. The Genesis X1-A’s multi-layered three dimensional sandwich dial with applied strong luminescence and logo gives it a very modern and utilitarian look. We also think that the skeleton case-back showing the mechanics of the Swiss movement is a nice touch.

Filippo Loreti

€4,809,548 (US$5,683,202) pledged of €20,000 (US$23,633) goal

Filippo Loreti’s campaign clearly outdid itself by vastly exceeding its goal. The design for each watch was inspired by Italian culture and history. In fact, Filippo Loreti  is so confident in the quality of its watches, that each timepiece is backed by a 10 year warranty. Moreover, after you made a pledge, Filippo Loreti asked for your wrist measurements, so that its craftsmen could tailor a strap specifically for you. Every watch model was assembled by hand and limited to 1641 pieces.
