Hong Kong Wins Big at Asia Boating Awards

Hong Kong-based multi-millionaire Richard Beattie took home the prestigious Most Innovative Yacht Design of the Year for Big Fish (above) at this year’s Asia Boating Awards, held May 6 at the Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show. Custom built by McMullen and Wing, the 45-meter Big Fish features a 30-screen video wall, a helicopter landing pad, spa pool, two terraces, a wine cellar and state-of-art kitchen. Plans for a second yacht, Star Fish, are well underway. It will be handled by Beattie’s firm Aquos Yachts.

Other Hong Kong wins include the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, honored as the Best Asian Yacht Club of the Year, the Hong Kong Gold Coast Yacht Club, winner of Best Asian Marina of the Year, and Simpson Marine, which snapped up the award for Best Asia-based Charter Company.
