Soak in a Hammock: Vessel by Splinter Works

The folks from furniture design house, Splinter Works, have created something that looks as if it was pulled out of the twilight zone. The Vessel contains both the DNA from a hammock and a bathtub. We are hoping that this means the Vessel allows for double the relaxation. Imagine kicking back on a hammock while soaking in a bathtub.

Designed for used in a wet room, the Vessel is suspended from the walls and has no contact with the floor. The elevated ends are secured to the walls with stainless steel brackets that can be covered over. The bath is filled via a floor standing tap. After a good soak, the water is released through the base into a floor drain.

Don’t worry about the Vessel breaking under the stress of the weight. We highly doubt that it will break, for it is made from carbon fibre, not the conventional acrylic or fibreglass. In fact, the Vessel will probably be too stubborn to break. Beneath the layers of carbon fibre lies a foam core, which insulates the tub and keeps the bath warm for longer than usual. At 2.7m long, the Vessel can also be trimmed up to 20cm to cater for flexible installation. It is available in red, blue, yellow, pink, bronze and pure silver.

So, which came first, the bathtub or the hammock?
