All that glitters: Alberto Morreti creates 24-karat gold velvet shoes

Italian designer Alberto Moretti has proven that all that glitters is gold by creating the worlds first ever wearable pair of 24-carat gold shoes.

While this gilded phase is getting a bit repetitive, you have to admit that wearing these would make you feel like royalty. Moretti created a pair of simple pumps for women and loafers for men made of velvet and covered in gold - and although the styles are a bit simple, the gold says it all. They were created in collaboration with HORO, who have previously released a line of gold leaf t-shirts.

The shoes are available in only five stores worldwide: Harrods, in London, Barneys in New York City, Fred Segal in LA, Level Shoe District in Dubai and The Swank in Hong Kong. This is assuming, of course, that you're willing to cough up US$2600 for a pair. Better hope it's not rainy season where you are...
