Monet sells for nearly $54 million at Sotheby's


The iconic work of art by renowned French artist Claude Monet has been creating records ever since it was displayed in Sotheby’s. Recently at the auction house’s London sale, this particular piece of art was sold with an exorbitant price tag of nearly $54 million.

The brilliant portrait titled “Nympheas” dated way back since 1906 was apparently displayed at a renowned exhibition in Paris in 1909 to unveil Monet’s Water Lily works. Reports suggest that this breathtaking masterpiece once was a prized possession of the French art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel and remained in his personal collection till the time of his demise.
