Of course, the hotel pool is important to most travellers’ idea of a dream getaway. Here are some of the most iconic hotel swimming pools and water features around the world, which have all been created by Jean-Michel Gathy, principal designer at Denniston Architects.

The city’s skyline is dominated by the world’s largest rooftop pool designed by Jean-Michel Gathy. The 150m-long infinity pool is a spectacular oasis and one of the best spots to look out from Marina Bay Sands. At 650m above the ground, the stunning infinity pool lies on a platform on top of three buildings, and it is the largest outdoor pool in the world at this height.

Point Yamu Resort by Como, Phuket

The contemporary design of Point Yamu by Como makes use of a basic white and turquoise colour palette in its contemporary design, inspired by surrounding waters. Its breathtaking 100m infinity pool overlooks the panoramic views of Phang Nga Bay.

Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay feels just like a private mansion by the sea, with five swimming pools within the Spa. At 115m, the Sunny Bay lap pool ranks as one of the longest in China, while the 25m indoor pool is the only indoor pool in the entire Hainan province.

Cheval Blanc Randheli offers a stylish surrounding and a relaxing, friendly atmosphere in the tranquil, intimate Maldivian archipelago. In Jean-Michel Gathy’s design, each villa has a pool the quarter length of an Olympic-sized one, overlooking the turquoise waters of Randheli.
