Tommy Hilfiger Joins In Revolutionary Fashion Model

Only recently did Tom Ford pull the plug on his show for New York Fashion Week this Spring. “An antiquated idea”, he called it, “one that no longer makes sense.” He pushed for an immediate model to suit the modern times in the age of instant gratification and fast trends. Now, it looks like other designers feel the same way.

On Friday, Tommy Hilfiger announced that its Fall/Winter 2016 show will go on at the New York Fashion Week this month, with a special unveiling in September featuring model Gigi Hadid in a complete TommyXGigi capsule collection.

The Maison will instead adopt the revolutionary model next year in February 2017, where an in-season Spring/Summer 2017 will be available immediately for purchase. The move for a “see now, buy now” model strongly hints at a revolution of sorts within the fashion industry, as more big houses consider stepping into the new light where the consumer becomes the driving force of the business.
